Terrain Based Treatment™

Supporting your journey through cancer naturally.

What is the Terrain based Treatment™ and Metabolic Approach to Cancer?

The core of the Terrain Based Treatment™, developed and taught by Dr. Nasha Winters, uses therapeutic nutrition and powerful lifestyle interventions to encourage healthy metabolism and reduce factors which trigger cancer growth.  We begin with a deep dive into understanding your individual health profile.

A comprehensive health questionnaire, an in-depth consultation and extensive set of blood markers help us to put together an initial plan which aims to correct underlying imbalances in your body. We will check in and retest regularly to make sure that underlying imbalances are improving. This strategy guides what therapies, nutritional supplements and diet plans you will follow. The ultimate aim is to support you before, during, and beyond conventional cancer therapies.

Terrain based Treatment™ works alongside and is not a substitute for conventional cancer treatment. It supports your body’s innate healing ability- naturally, comprehensively and holistically.

According to Dr. Nasha Winters, the Metabolic Approach to Cancer focuses on understanding and addressing cancer as a metabolic disease. Here are some key terms and concepts central to this approach:

Metabolic Disease: Cancer is viewed as a disease of energy metabolism, where cancer cells rely on altered metabolic processes, such as fermentation, to generate energy.

Warburg Effect: This refers to the observation that cancer cells preferentially use glycolysis for energy production, even in the presence of oxygen, leading to increased glucose consumption and lactate production.

Ketogenic Diet: A high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that aims to shift the body’s metabolism from glucose to ketones for energy, potentially starving cancer cells of their preferred fuel.

Deep Nutrition: Emphasizes the importance of nutrient-dense, whole foods to support overall health and address nutritional deficiencies that may contribute to cancer progression.

Nontoxic Therapies: Focuses on using therapies that minimize harm to healthy cells and reduce toxic side effects, often integrating natural and holistic treatments.

Bio-Individualised Care: Recognizes that each person’s cancer and metabolic profile are unique, requiring personalized treatment plans based on individual physiology and specific cancer characteristics.

Terrain: Refers to the body’s internal environment, including factors like inflammation, immune function, and hormonal balance, which can influence cancer development and progression.

Mitochondrial Health: Emphasizes the role of healthy mitochondria in preventing and managing cancer, as damaged mitochondria are believed to be a root cause of cancer.

Intermittent Fasting and Caloric Restriction: These practices are used to enhance metabolic flexibility and potentially improve the effectiveness of cancer treatments by stressing cancer cells.

Integrative Oncology: Combines conventional cancer treatments with complementary therapies to address the whole person and improve outcomes.

These key terms reflect the holistic and personalised nature of the Metabolic Approach to Cancer, which seeks to address the root causes of cancer and support the body’s natural healing processes.
