C.S. Brain Cancer (glioblastoma)

March 9, 2015

Today is 2 years exactly when ‘C’ died of a brain tumour. When he was first diagnosed we were only given 3 months but we had 5 very special months.

Our eldest scientific son ‘H’ after loads of research wanted me to put ‘C’ on a ketogenic diet . I had never heard of this and was horrified as it contained some meat and as a lifelong vegetarian I thought I had enough to worry about!!!

The basics is that these specific cancer cells thrived on carbohydrates.

I can’t tell you how supportive Sally was with her weekly visits and her combined research giving me so much confidence that we were doing all we could.

‘C’ went through Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy but with Sally’s treatment he never had a headache and felt amazingly comfortable for those 5 months nursing him at home till the end with the help of my sister who is also a nurse , and my wonderful boys and fantastic friends that kept our spirits up.

I also felt amazingly energetic on this diet for those 5 months (although I didn’t eat any meat or fish) and now 2 years on if I feel tired or sluggish I try to leave off the carbohydrates as much as possible.

Thanks again Sally for all your help and support.
